About Isom Ham Design Group

Isom Ham Design Group is located in Elkin, NC and was founded in 1988. In 1990 Isom Ham Design Group designed its first hotel, a Hampton Inn in Charleston, South Carolina. By 1999, IHDG had found a niche in the hospitality industry designing and renovating hotels throughout the southeast for the international hotel brands Hilton, Marriott, IHG, Choice, etc. At that time, our founding owners, Dale Isom and Bob Ham, built and began operating their first of six hotels. This unique perspective as design architect and owner/operator became a valuable asset to all of Isom Ham’s clients. Over the years, Isom Ham Desgin Group has come to be know as a top Southeast hotel architecture firm.

In 2023, Joe Seipel-Parks, AIA, founder of West Depot Architecture , joined Isom Ham Design Group as their new President. Joe’s background in historic rehabilitations, hospitality design and commercial architecture has further expanded the firm’s perspective. As of 2024, Isom Ham’s focus continues to be on delivering the highest quality hotel designs by bringing 35+ years of hotel experience into every project. To date, the firm has completed over 250 hotel projects in 17 states.
